The Wellcome Trust/ DBT India Alliance is a recently created partnership between the Wellcome Trust (UK) and the Department of Biotechnology (India). With a $120 million corpus for five years, the India Alliance's mandate is to provide fellowships to the brightest young scientists who wish to pursue research in biomedical sciences in India. Fellowships are provided at various stages of a research career, typically post-PhD. Clinician scientists and public health researchers are strongly encouraged to apply. Fellows are provided generous personal support and funds to perform internationally competitive science in India. At this talk, Professor Lohia would describe the schemes, their provisions and the application process. She will also be available post-talk to advise potential applicants.
