The National Research Council of the National Academies sponsors a number
of awards for graduate, postdoctoral and senior scholars to conduct
research at federal laboratories and affiliated institutions, which are
collectively call the "Research Associateship Program" (RAP).
RAP awards include graduate entry level stipends beginning at $30,000,
stipends ranging from $42,000 - $75,000 per year for recent Ph.D.
recipients, and stipends in excess of $75,000 for more senior scholars.
These awards provide an opportunity for recipients to do independent
research in some of the best-equipped and staffed laboratories in the US.
Research opportunities are open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents,
and--for some of the laboratories--foreign nationals.
At the request of The National Research Council of the National Academies,
please consider this opportunity for yourself if appropriate to your
research/discipline, or share this opportunity with your fellow faculty,
promising graduate students and post-docs.
